The Subcontrabass Flute
The subcontrabass flute can be made in the key of G or C. The subcontrabass Flute in G, ranges ½ octave below the contrabass flute, and two and ½ octaves below the concert flute. Like the contrabass, the footjoint can be adjusted.
The subcontrabass flute in C, is made up of 18 feet of tubing and stands 8 feet tall. It's range is one octave bellow the contrabass flute, two octaves bellow the bass flute and three octaves bellow the concert flute. The lowest C on this instrument, would be the very last C on a piano key board.
