The Piccolo
The piccolo is usually about 33cm long. It has only 2 parts instead of 3, the Head and the Body. The piccolo plays an octave higher than the Concert Flute, but it can only go as low as D, because it has no footjoint. It's sound is even more penetrating than the flute. The piccolo became popular about 200 years ago.
